Within living memory, popular entertainment had built-in Christian assumptions. In other words, books and films etc, didn’t need overt and didactic Christian messages – they simply played into the social consciousness of the times which had been conditioned by a Christian ethos.

The values of those days are gone, and, I fear, never coming back.
