Education has been finding offence in children’s literature for years. Lemon-sucking seriousness has decried many books beloved by children. Authors such as Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton plus many more have been condemned and withdrawn from school libraries on grounds ranging from racism to imperialism with every social offence in between. I’ve read the stuff that is approved and you couldn’t give it away to kids.
