I do think that the Anglican Church bears some responsibility here.
It is run by liberals but paid for by conservatives. It is a complete reflection of modern Britain. We worship human autonomy and the church goes along with that view not against it. The liberals within the church expect the conservatives to meekly pay their stipends despite empty pews and this is reflected in a society that expects generally moral conservative families to fund and mitigate the consequences of a liberal lifestyle.
If the Anglican Church had split and the functioning half spoken out, we would have had more of a chance of stopping society spiralling out of control to political and economic disaster.
