The main bugbear with family allowance is that people on benefits have large families and the taxpayers DO end up funding them (the Government has no money, remember?).

We stopped at two children because we simply couldn’t afford to have any more and it would have been impossible for me to have been a “stay-at-home-mum.”

NO. I don’t want to pay for anybody else’s children. If I can make a conscious effort to limit my lifestyle within my means, so can everybody else.
