Not being an Anglican and far from Roman Catholic, I am struck by the relative tenacity of the latter in asserting values while offering help to those who fall . The Anglicans, it appears to me, just patronise those who fail in their attempt to live the life they aspire to, by simply condescending. In all surveys, people young and old still aspire to a “normal” family life. But rather than holding forth the ideal and its virtues and picking up those who trip or fall to help them to their feet, it seems the bishops are content to step over them with platitudes.
