I think one problem for the Conservative Party is that people perceive that any inherent “nastiness”, whether it exists or not, would be painted over with a veneer of PR deceit. The fact that you and others would probably deem it “nasty”, for example, for the UK to control its own borders, explains the present  and well-deserved — implosion of the Conservative Party. A second and major problem for the Conservative Party and the present Westminster cartel in general is that the public persona of Nigel Farage is not only of a nice guy, but one who is also genuine.
