Linking arms. Mouthing platitudes. Empty gestures. Awful, just appalling.
I know the politicians are hideous but to be fair to them, they are only reflecting the hideously stupid, self-obsessed nature of people. Short attention spans, obsessed with entitlement and of course hugely ignorant of facts, the public demands of their politicians that they make them feel good, and then are on hand to blame for anything in their lives that doesn’t work out…
I do wonder whether the opportunity is there for someone who gives people not what they think they need, but what they may sub-consciously know they need – blunt truth, bad news, practical solutions and incessant follow-through – to smash through the whole lot of them. Someone who becomes immune to the normal lines of attack that obsess the current political class because he/she never makes “feeling your pain” or any of the other norms part of their presentation. I guess Farage shows some of this aspect, he seems immune to some attacks that would floor Cameron/Miliband & Clegg and doesn’t appear to waste much time or energy trying.
