Jess Phillips, like many in the Labour movement is a hypocrite – I’ve seen pictures of her sat very comfortably on a stage at a political meeting where women were segregated, as is usually the case within the Muslim community.
In fact, last year the MP for Perry Barr Birmingham Khalid Mahmood was questioned about the practice of this gender segregation by a leading newspaper, his response was “And?”
Several prominent Muslim women have themselves just this week been in the news complaining of being held back by their male counterparts, but the Labour Party will never take action, lest they lose the votes they’re desperate to cling on to, and while Jess Phillips stands up and proclaims her support on International Women’s Day – she too will never take any action, her constituents wouldn’t stand for it.
The Labour Party is extremely dependent on the Muslim vote, yet it is those Muslim men who are most disparaging and most obstructive to their women making real progress.
