In response to Michael St George: Be careful what you wish for, Brussels,
Today I have received this email from the Conservative Party:
‘Across the country, Conservative councillors are protecting the local services that you rely on. While keeping your council tax low. In fact, we charge LESS Council Tax on average for a Band D home than Labour and Lib Dems. While providing high-quality services.
Around 5,000 of our councillors have elections on 2 May. And if Labour get in, they’ll charge residents like you MORE tax. While providing poorer services.
‘Want to know more? Then subscribe to our YouTube channel. That way, you can see our local election broadcast tonight. We can’t win on 2 May without your help.
‘From parks to buses to bins – local councils look after the services that affect people’s day-to-day lives. And they decide how much you pay for those services. So if you want to see the action we’re taking across the country, then subscribe to our YouTube channel – it’s free to do and takes just one click.
Yours sincerely, The Conservative Party’
This is my reply:
‘Dear Conservative Party
‘You must be joking! Loyal Tory voter in the past . . . not any more! You are anti-democracy! You do not stand by your promises or your manifesto and your PM has destroyed any semblance of trust we may have had left in our politicians.
‘At my local election I only have Con/Lab/Lib/Green to choose from . . . I do not wish to vote for any of these four devious parties and will therefore not be voting.
‘Roll on the EU elections (PR so you can’t fiddle that!) and the next General Election. You have no idea how angry people are out here in the real world!’
I am actually going to make the effort to spoil my vote in the None of the Above box seeing as I have no other alternative.
