In response to Will Jones: Are the Tories starting to row back at last over trans madness

Transgenderism meets the definition of delusion. I don’t mind being neutral about a deluded adult, provide they do not force their beliefs on me, and I’ll use preferred pronouns out of politeness. However, when it comes to medicating and surgery with their inherent risks and irreversibility, it’s crucial that the person is sufficiently mature/competent to make that decision. Which, given the long-standing implications, should take some adult years of informed consideration and consent.
Our society has laws restricting any interference/activity with a child’s genitals until aged 16, even if said child is eager and desirous of such activity. They are not legally allowed to consent to sex. Why on earth does anyone therefore think they can consent to genital treatment/surgery with risks of mutilation, incontinence, sexual dysfunction, infertility, thrombosis and cancer? Let alone the long-term psychological consequences?
