If Theresa May called an election now it would do two things. Firstly, it would create more uncertainty. Hardly desirable. Secondly, the public would see it as entirely opportunistic and there ends her honeymoon period.
Quite rightly the Prime Minister has declared that she will get on with Brexit negotiations. They do, after all, trump short-term electoral advantage.
