In response to Jason Newman: Police raise white flag on festival drug use; sex assaults spike, Johannes Factotum wrote:
The rapturous reception given to Jeremy Corbyn at Glastonbury suggests that festival attendees are almost exclusively Left-wing, or don’t have much political awareness, so it is little wonder that neo-liberal, Marxist social agenda policies find favour with them.
When such events are reported in the media, it seems as if everyone is (a) complicit in such behaviour, or (b) expected to condone or adopt it, even if only by acquiescence. The thing is, I never meet anyone in my day-to-day going about who agrees with this stuff. They talk about it, even rail against it, but it’s as if it is happening in another world, not theirs. So it’s ‘Let’s just carry on with our heads in the sand’ then, suddenly, it’s at their front door and they are scratching their heads wondering how it has come to pass.
