The only way we are going to change this is to change the political class:

MPs’ term limited to one election cycle and that goes for ministers and PM as well;

No lobbying at all;

MPs must have lived in their constituency for at least ten years;

MPs must have worked in the private sector or in the front line of public services for at least ten years. So doctors, yes, lifelong public sector managerial cronies, no!

Ministers must have at least some qualification beyond being someone’s mate to run a department!

Treated as a public duty and suitably remunerated to allow people to take five years out and still return to private life.

There are probably more but these will go some way to making our representatives representative!
