Your mordant linkage of your own ‘fitness test’ for operability provides an apt analogy for the BBC’s guests, though I rather incline to the view that it’s the organisation itself that requires test for fitness.

After all, the interviewees are respectively pandered to or excoriated depending on whether they share the bien pensant world view of the interviewer, who in turn simply reflects the ‘world view’ of the Director General and Board of Governors downwards.
