‘Lurch to the right’ is another favourite. The US Supreme Court’s ‘lurch to the right’ following Trump’s recent appointment to that body but no ‘lurch to the left’ when Obama made a similar appointment. No ‘lurch to the left’ when the Labour Party appoints a self-confessed Marxist to the post of Shadow Chancellor.
