In response to Dr Campbell Campbell-Jack: Europe’s Christian revolution – and why the UK isn’t part of it, HenryV wrote:
Our parish church has a sign outside of it telling me it is ‘my church’. It was where I was baptised. It was where my parents were married. Down the years it has seen family funerals and other marriages and baptisms. It has always been there in my life. But ‘it’ is the building and not the ‘Church’. So yes, it is in a way very much ‘my church’, but I don’t think the author of the sign’s message meant it that way.
(At the other end of the village there is a chapel that is now, of all things, a Russian Orthodox church. I have an uneasy feeling about which of them has the more stable congregation.)
