In response to Cerberus: It will take Thatcher-like zeal to make Brexit happen, duncann wrote:
Theresa May is supported by all the arch Europhiles like Ken Clarke. She will not Brexit by the right route if at all, she will keep freedom of movement and ECHR etc.
She has a tin ear to immigration, by far the biggest issue with voters and has let in more immigrants than anyone in history, including the Normans.
Electing her will be a contemptuous slap in the face to 17.5 million people, including the majority of Tory voters. She will be a disaster for the Tory Party. It will be wiped out as mighty Labour were wiped out in Scotland. Referendums do this. A page has turned. May is on the wrong side of history. She is an opportunist who sat out the referendum. That is not leadership. She is yesterday’s woman chosen by yesterday’s men.
I am backing Andrea Leadsom. She fought passionately and ably for Brexit. She is fresh, untainted and decent and My God she knows her stuff. We need a Brexit PM whose heart is in it and whose resolve is of steel. She will bring home the bacon – and bring home two million Ukip voters the party lost for the stance May and her supporters took on the EU.
