In response to Nola Leach: UK tax system is biased against the traditional family, Colkitto03 wrote:
Thank you for writing this Nola, My family fits right into the profile you describe. Luckily, I have a good job, but as the upper part of my income pays 40 per cent tax I don’t get the married allowance. That said even though I have a good job, competing with the two-income society is difficult.
Over the years it has meant cutting back significantly on things like foreign holidays, meals out, latest clothes, cars, hobbies etc. We would not change a single thing though, because your health and your family are actually what makes you rich. The best experiences in life are not ones you have to pay for. Some people never work that out until it’s too late.
