It’s an interesting point because so much that the Baby Boomers have introduced into society (the health and safety obsession, the healthy eating and fitness manias, the anti-smoking/drinking campaigns) are premised on trying to cheat death.
Maybe because they are the first real non-Christian generation, and have no belief in an afterlife, they are therefore terrified of death, and have done just about everything possible to try and prevent it happening.
You could say that the modern world that we live in has been constructed by the Baby Boomers as a way of trying to be immortal in the physical realm, because they do not believe in immortality in the spiritual realm.
