In response to Caroline Farrow: Supporters of gay marriage have fought dirty in the Irish referendum, Welshboy wrote:
Unfortunately Caroline, I have to lay blame at the door of the Catholic Church for being complacent in this referendum on gay marriage.
What has happened here is that the 50 years of the Catholic Church abusing its powers over the Irish nation in terms of paedophilia, abusing sinners seeking hope in our God and also ridiculous rituals that are not even in the Bible, e.g. priests not allowed to marry, worshipping the Virgin Mary etc.
As a Christian, it bothers me that all these ‘liberal progressive’ policies that have been brought in are a result of Catholic, Anglican, Presbyterian and Methodist churches not having full confidence in the Bible in order to preach from it and as a result, they have adopted a ‘liberal progressive’ worldview that it is not in the Bible and their members are turning away from them, either to Churches who Bible-confident or sadly to atheism.
I am not surprised at the result as it has shown how far in a short space of time that Ireland has turned away from Christianity (if the Catholic church did preach it that is).
It is also the Catholic church’s fault for choosing not to fight alongside other denominations in this referendum, as I believed that this contributed to the result.
Whilst I hate these ‘progressive liberal’ laws, I can’t help but feel that certain religious churches are to blame for this by adhering to a world view instead of sticking to the Bible.
