In response to David Keighley: Cameron’s EU referendum is a sham that will change nothing, misomiso wrote:
You are correct in all but one thing. The EU is not Marxist-socialist, it is an ‘insiders club’.
Whether it is public sector monopolies or massive tax-avoiding multinationals, the EU doesn’t care as long as you bow before its imperial majesty. In effect it is the worst of all possible worlds, taking the bad points from both the Left and the Right and using them to create a client state to stay in power for ever.
And the political class love Europe as it gives them a shield against the public. Whenever the public want something the political class don’t think is good, they hold up their hands and go ‘we would do that if we could, but European rules prevent us’.
The sad fact is that the Eurosceptics are going to lose this referendum. Ukip’s ego is too big, and we don’t have a moderate, positive leader to rally behind.
Cameron, Osborne and the Europhiles have played us all for fools, and they’re going to win. It’s just inhuman what the Tories are doing to their own people.
