Reader’s Comment of the Day: Gay marriage is none too popular


In response to Caroline Farrow: Supporters of gay marriage have fought dirty in the Irish referendum, Politically__Incorrect wrote:

Gay marriage is nothing but a legal fiction. Neither is it particularly popular either. The number of gay marriages in the UK since the redefinition of marriage is only 1400, compared to 500,000 heterosexual marriages. A very small percentage is found in the Netherlands too, which legalised gay marriages several years ago. I think those clamouring for it are simply caught in a blind frenzy of hatred directed at established values.
