An interesting theory though I’m not sure our modern jobsworth politicians have the imagination to invent such a scheme themselves. They do exploit climate change alarmism for economic purposes though. Look at all the “green” taxes we pay. Are they really intended to make us reduce the amount of petrol we use or to heat our homes less? No, they are just another source of revenue. If we all suddenly left our cars at home does anybody imagine the Government would be delighted at our new-found green credentials? No, they would be furiously looking around for something else to tax instead.
I think the real sources of climate alarmism, the Area 51 of climatology, are the universities and research centres. People who work in these places dare not show any independence of thought on the matter. If they do then they can forget that promotion. The politicians are just their useful idiots, ready to jump on any bandwagon that might make them look more on-message, as with diversity, equality, and LGBT privileges.
Like the X-File parody by the way. You could have included a couple of cameos from Assistant Director Skivvy and Agent Dog-ears too.
