In response to Liam Fox: The EU is the chink in our armour, not our protector, StellaJ wrote:
I’d like to add my thanks to Liam Fox for standing up for common sense in the welter of self-seeking nonsense that comes out of Westminster, Brussels and the BBC about the EU. Also to reassure him that many, many people in the country as whole can see that membership of the federalist EU is never going to be the UK’s advantage. We’ve given it our best shot – and vast amounts of our money – and got nothing but grief and lies, lies, lies in return. Enough.
Cameron has shot himself in the foot with the Calais Jungle debacle – none of his arguments stack up, unless he is admitting he is useless and that an independent UK is no longer capable of border control. Good, now even more people have the measure of him.
What has been so depressing over the past few years is seeing how many supposed Conservative Eurosceptics have quietly been converted to the EU cause when all rational arguments point to Leave. Purely on a point of democratic principle, I cannot understand how the concept of rule by remote, unaccountable bureaucrat can be accepted. We desperately need some politicians with courage and conviction – and understanding of our history.
