Reader’s Comment of the Day: On Obama’s reckoning, America should have stayed in the British Empire

In response to Cerberus: Obama faces a rough ride over Brexit from the sceptical British press, RC wrote:

Adams: “How’s that Declaration of Independence coming along?”

Jefferson: “Nearly finished”

Adams: “Actually, I was going to tell you to forget it. Apparently, the Tsar of Russia has said that we should stay in the British empire. He thinks that we won’t be able to function, economically, if we leave and is also afraid that, if our 13 colonies become independent, he won’t know what address to write to. So that’s that. Tell George to stand down.”
