The emotional security of a child is the number one priority, at least just slightly behind feeding them. If you can show your child they are loved it helps create emotional wellbeing and self-worth that stands then in good stead through life, and that love includes setting boundaries and standards.
There’s just nothing better than seeing your children grow up to be self-confident (not arrogant!), respected, admired, secure people.
