In response to Philippa Taylor: How safe is the school cancer vaccination for young girls?, Andrea Smith wrote:
A few years ago we were under the same pressure from the school nurse. I had said a definite No to this vaccine as we had lived in Texas when the then governor wanted it to be mandatory. It was highlighted then, that it was under researched and deemed unsafe. The biggest factor for me, which is never discussed, is that these children are only at risk once they become sexually active! The school nurse had my daughter in her office at least three times to persuade her to have it, she didn’t seem to want to accept our decision. My daughter is now 18 and we are both so happy that we didn’t give in to all the pressure.
