In response to, Nick Wood’s Campaign Commentary: Farage’s complaint of BBC bias is justified by the facts, Oliver J.S McMullen wrote:
Television is a poisonous medium, especially so in the hands of the progressive Left. It quells independent thought. Here we see it used quite nakedly as a political weapon. Part of the problem is its nature – the act of watching television is essentially passive. Any reaction such as shouting at the screen is completely impotent and futile, and that is what makes it ideal as a tool of propaganda.
George Orwell foresaw this when he invented the fictional two way “telescreen” for his “1984”. I believe in the old Soviet Union they made sure that every household had a television. It’s worth noting here that it’s imagination killing, attention span crippling, instant gratification amplifying effects are particularly bad for young children. Television as a propaganda tool is a vital weapon in the establishment’s armoury for keeping the worthless old parties alive. Social media such as Twitter just encourages a mob mentality. Let us hope there are enough people who are sick and tired of this garbage to upset the programme come May.
