Reader’s Comment of the Day: The Whittingdale tax is worse than the nasty TV licence

Whittingdale is on record as saying of BBC funding: ‘I think there’s quite an attractive option of linking it to a specific household tax – maybe council tax.’

That’s even worse than the nasty TV licence, meaning that even people with no TV would have to pay for all the BBC’s bias and dross.

My council tax should go to pay for schools, care for the elderly and other essential services, and I’m surprised a Tory has suggested it might be a good idea to use it for Eastenders and Radio One.

I’d refuse to pay any part of my council tax that the Tories intended to give to the BBC.
