Reader’s Comment of the Day: Will children have to report their parents to the authorities?

In response to, Chris McGovern: Maths and science are not enough. Now our teachers have to ‘prevent’ terrorism, Charlie Wardale wrote:

“The school concerned has already referred three children to ‘the authorities’ after they were deemed to have shown ‘signs of extremism’. The age of these children has not been reported but lies between 4 and 11 years.”

Is it only me that finds this chilling! “Referred to the authorities”?? For God’s sake, they are kids and come out with all sorts they either don’t mean or don’t understand. Next the schools will be asking kids to report on what their parents say at home about Muslims.
