In response to TCW Editors: We need more Conservative May and less Chairwoman Mao, Malcolm Marches wrote:
If Mrs May stood up at the conference and made a speech which contained the gist of this article, I would vote for the Tories again. Sadly, I very much doubt that she will. I’m sure she’ll pay lip service to ‘Conservatism’, but we all know that it will only be talk, and of course talk’s cheap and consequently worth very little. The tragedy is that our politicians don’t seem to realise that they’ve been rumbled.
In Britain we are an inherently small ‘c’ conservative country and we still get these people, who never get more than 30-40 per cent of the vote, pushing a so-called progressive and liberal agenda down our throats. It’s well worth remembering that, for all her faults, Margaret Thatcher was regularly elected to office by the country, and it was her own disloyal colleagues who kicked her out. The country never did!
She won elections by simply being Conservative. Oh, that the present bunch of drones would do the same!
