In response to Belinda Brown: No, Ms Mordaunt, higher MALE wages benefit family women most, paul parmenter wrote:
I have long maintained that there must be something seriously wrong with any society where men fail to earn more than women.
Such a society can only exist – for as long as it lasts, which surely will not be very long – where either the rulers of that society have deliberately forced down male wages while artificially inflating female wages; or the men have become so beaten down that they have given up making any effort; or the society has found some way to completely warp the natural proclivities of both sexes. Of course, it is possible for any combination of these factors to work together to produce the same result.
In UK 2018, we seem to be working, with gusto, on at least two of them; and eyeing up the third as a distinct possibility.
