In response to David Keighley’s BBC Watch: The Beeb is on a mission to destroy the Brexit vote, Peter Hitchens wrote:
It is not true that I claimed the BBC had changed its spots. I stated, and only a fanatic with a wholly closed mind could say it isn’t true, that the BBC had made a creditable effort at fairness during the campaign. The moment it was over it ceased to do so, as I pointed out in last Sunday’s column.
To claim a genuine long-term reform would be a wholly different thing from noting an episode. And if conservatives cannot concede good behaviour when it does happen, nobody will take seriously their complaints of bad behaviour.
