She signed off Harman’s Equalities Bill in 2010, was one of the two sponsors of gay marriage (a European concept) with Lynne Featherstone, tried to introduce the European Arrest Warrant by stealth in 2014 and (again with minimum publicity) drove through the Investigatory Powers Act at the end of 2016.
Some themes emerge. She is the originator of none of this legislation but someone else’s cat’s paw. It is all to do with competitive victimhood or surveillance. She has never formed an intelligent view on any subject affecting the generality of British taxpayers, such as education, energy, welfare or defence. And then there’s border control. Or more accurately, there isn’t.
