The question not being asked is ‘What kind of Britain will the electorate want post Brexit Nigel-style?’

Readers here know what they want but they are not the electorate. They are a right wing segment of it.

In 1945, Churchill thought he would walk it as a victorious war leader. He got a bloody nose because voters wanted houses built, healthcare made universal, they wanted to rebuild the shattered country pronto. And Churchill, from his luxurious Blenheim outpost, wanted to play ‘Hate the Russky’ games like so many before and since.

Nigel Farage is the man to get the UK out of Europe, no doubt.

But like too many, Britain is obsessing about independence day, like a starry couple obsessing about their wedding day instead of talking pragmatically about what the realities of married life will be.

A lot of people do NOT want to become a US lapdog and many would happily ditch NATO to rid themselves of the Nazi psychopaths in control of US foreign policy, agitating yet again for war in Iran and Venezuela, not to mention trying to crush Russia and China.

Being a global trading nation means precisely that, it does not mean Donald Trump telling Britain who they can trade with or else. America trades with some absolutely disgusting people, so is in no place to moralise.

If Iceland can survive, if Switzerland can prosper, the UK has no excuses.

We trade with people who behave reasonably, not with mafioso hoods who threaten any form of independence and adult behaviour.
