In response to Laura Perrins: From a beach in the sun, the prattle of Hastings,

Great piece Laura and nicely sums up their elitist arrogance and condescension with regards to the rest of us. We who are still proud to consider ourselves British have to go to work, worry about meeting the mortgage payment and had the effrontery to vote against something that always worked for those of the elite (who are close to the levers of power and international finance) but had very little to offer the rest of us lesser mortals.

Myopic Max (like Dan the ‘History Man’ Snow) are good at wrapping themselves up in the union jack when it suits them but in reality their loyalty to their country only extends as far as their privilege, bank balance and social status. The rest of us in reality are only tolerated to serve their needs and only that. That is why they find it unfathomable that so many of us voted in a way that in the short term may make us poorer, but also values culture above short-term financial gain.

It doesn’t matter how strong a pair of specs Max dons – he will never truly see and understand the fact that when people have lost everything else, the last thing they have left is their identity and dignity, something which the EU is doing its best to rob them of.
These people consider themselves great thinkers but in reality are no more than spoilt children, only aware and caring about their own immediate situation and privileges and have no care about what a sense of nationhood truly means.

People of his ilk are increasingly becoming an irrelevance to the rest of us. They have been found out in France and will be found out in due course here too. Maybe Max and friends should move to Necker Island with Branson – I am sure they would all be much happier and be able to spout their patronising nonsense away from the rest of us smelly, ungrateful masses.
