The Tories can only blame themselves for making themselves toxic with the young due to their policy of trebling student fees and charging interest rates of 3 per cent over inflation, a rate greatly in excess of mortgage rates! No graduate in their right mind would ever vote Conservative when the Tories have increased their income tax rates by 9 per cent for every pound they earn over the threshold for paying back their student loan for most of their working lives. There are also many parents and even grandparents who did not vote Conservative last time because of student fees for their children and grandchildren.
