Reader’s Comment: We have to stop May becoming PM

In response to Andrew Cadman: Will the Tories betray the Brexit revolution?, Chirgwin wrote:

May is terrible. She continued Labour levels of immigration, hundreds of thousands net every year, and total lack of border controls. She’s a New Labour style dangerous authoritarian, with plans to spy on us all and, using the Asbo template, censor people’s opinions, fascist style, with Edos.

“Extreme” opinions could be opposition to gay marriage, “undermining democracy”, whatever that means, and advocating “conspiracy theories” – all without any trial/proper legal process.

She has undermined family life with pernicious new legislation, allowing kids to shop their parents to the police for alleged “mental cruelty”, and partners to bring in the law over alleged “controlling” behaviour. May’s record is appalling. She was anti Brexit, but too craven to commit fully to it; she was absent during the campaign. Almost all the MPs so far declared for her were opposed to Brexit. Know her by her fans, people. May as leader is totally untrustworthy, a dangerous authoritarian, incompetent, and quite likely to thwart leaving the EU.

By sitting on their hands, the Leave Tory MPs are giving the momentum to May. They need to get their fingers out now, stop procrastinating and support an alternative candidate to May. I don’t think May can be stopped from being one of the two finalists, so we need to expose her appalling record in office and get across to Tory party members the danger her victory would represent to Brexit. Many in the constituency parties harbour delusions about what May is really like, based on the insincere tub-thumping speeches she makes at conferences.

The Daily Mail’s support for May is dangerous – we need to let the paper know what we think of them endorsing this anti Brexiteer, who is overwhelmingly supported by Tory MP anti-Brexiteers.

Stop toxic Theresa!
