In response to Cerberus’s Election Watch: Don’t panic – The Tories often lose the campaign but win the war, David wrote:
Her hard tack leftwards has lost her my vote. I switched from the pretend Conservatives to Ukip eight years ago when I realised that they were not serious about freeing us from the EU. Cameron’s redefinition of marriage, to ape the EU, strongly supported by Mrs May, confirmed me in that position of supporting and being an activist for Ukip.
However the collapse of Ukip’s leadership, after the departure of Farage, saw me prepared to consider reverting to the Conservatives. But Mrs May’s sharp shuffle leftwards, her appalling record of non-achievement as Home Secretary, and her generally wet-lettuce approach to everything has put a stop to that.
I still have reservations regarding Ukip’s leadership, but they are at least patriotic supporters of this country and its people, whereas the Conservatives offer very mixed messages indeed.
