I think if I was a head teacher I would be baying for the education secretary’s blood too. The issue is that the position is a figurehead, and it’s the people behind it who are largely to blame. Changes in public sector departments can be at a rate of every 30 minutes because the idiots cannot ever come to a decision. As a consequence the volume of paperwork being sent out is colossal, and worse than that, something in A4 an inch thick can be completely contradicted the following day!
I remember a certain company running a computer system for the benefits agency were forced to limit the number of changes the Whitehall loons were allowed to make in a day because again they would change their minds every 30 minutes, often coming back to the original decision a day later.
So make a rule that the department can send out changes ONLY at the end of each term, and the Whitehall loons have to live with and be responsible for their decisions.
Tackle the examination boards so that syllabi are not politically biased, especially English Lit where some very dodgy manuscripts can be prescribed for young minds. Limit the teaching of sexual ‘education’ until the final two years of secondary. Set up a scheme for the reporting of Left-wing bullying – despite all of the anti-bullying schemes there is no mechanism for reporting the most virulent form of political intimidation – often coming from the staff themselves.
