Today it’s a right to hedonism in which, ultimately, all others are purely objects through which we realise our ‘good feelings’. Even if this isn’t the overt intention of those advocating for the new status quo, the result is that.
Sadly as we blindly dehumanise others as objects for our satisfaction – again, either overtly in abortion for example, or implicitly in divorce – we dehumanise ourselves even whilst putting ourself at the centre of the world. It’s inevitable as each other person puts themselves first too and, when finding the ‘Truth’ that was sold to them is a myth and they are merely objects for others, not valuable human beings, the end result is despair.
This is why suicide in the West is becoming so prevalent. We have worshipped empty gods of the material, the career, our sexual and sensual appetites and political power. As Christ stated: ‘He who tries to save his life (ie his rights) will lose it. He who dies to the self (in service to others) will save it.’
