Readers’ comments: Attenborough is such a turn-off

I started to watch Our Planet the other night. I was only 10 minutes into the first episode and the only way I could continue to watch was with the sound turned off. Stunning photography, brilliant filming but entirely let down by a politically driven leftie-climate change narration.

It’s a shame, as a child I used to really love watching Attenborough documentaries about wildlife but as time has gone on his fervour for the global warming scam and his rather creepy fascination with Malthusianism has really tarnished that.

I suspect in this case he just reads lines, the fact that this ‘documentary’ is made by the WWF makes its impartiality suspect at best. Seems to just be a propaganda film.

I remember David Bellamy on the Jeremy Vine show a few years back. He was allowed to say his piece about global warming and basically deconstructed it with well-reasoned, evidence-based argument.

He departed and on came the alarmist. His first words when asked to respond were – and I kid you not – (paraphrased) ‘Well David is a lovely bloke but as we all know he’s gone a bit doolally in recent years’.

Needless to say, he was allowed to get away with it.
