The NHS is in the thrall of the IT sector. Now calling itself ‘Digital Health’, it is the IT nerds that have made the NHS dependent on computers and believe, like them, everyone enjoys sitting at a desk constantly logged on. Every referral has been converted to some IT system or another. And so many nurses qualify and are soon beholden to a laptop computer. What lies at the heart of this is the new ‘infomatics’ economy which depends on the creation of nice charts and graphs.
