In response to Kathy Gyngell: What should Nigel do next?
If Boris was remotely serious about getting us out of the EU, he would bite Nigel’s hand off and accept the unofficial Leaver pact offered to him. The fact he won’t speaks volumes. He has absolutely no excuse now to present us with a ‘one leg in/one leg out’ deal. The pressures for it are no longer there. The very fact he attempted to ram this awful treaty through Parliament without scrutiny using the (obviously mendacious) threat that if it was voted down we’d never get Brexit shows where his priorities really lie. Doesn’t stand up now does it? It’s possible now like never before to get a real Brexit.
The Tories are unbelievably arrogant if they think they are going to walk this election to victory. They are no longer to be trusted. Indeed were they ever? I have now come to believe Farage should distance himself from this toxic party, go it alone and just get as many seats as possible.
All this talk of the BXP standing down for the Tories is infuriating. It should be the other way round. If Corbyn gets in the Tories only have themselves to blame.
At this stage the only thing that would make me vote Conservative would be if the prospective MP signed a contract in his or her own blood that we would be out with a WTO Brexit by this December 31 or they spend the rest of their life in prison.
