In response to Paul T Horgan: Owen Jones – the face that sank the Labour ship

Agree with much of the article, but would ruefully take issue with the statement, ‘Britain has not had a decisively socialist government for over half a century’.
I would contend, seriously, that the administrations of Cameron, May and now Johnson are much like the Wilson/Callaghan episodes – high-spending, high taxation, micro-managing everything, favouring big businesses over smaller enterprises (that’s where they get their funding, after all – and then dutifully make life ever more difficult for SMEs); no, Socialism has triumphed by merely subsuming the Tory party into it like an amoeba absorbing its next meal. The true conservatism of Disraeli and Thatcher is largely absent today.

Other contenders for the face(s) that sank Labour surely must include the utterly stupid, obnoxious Diane Abbott, the gormless Dawn Butler, the chavvy Angela Rayner and the yawping fishwife, Jess Phillips.
