In response to Joel Davidson and Chris Alley: MPs must choose if they want to be China’s lapdogs,

China is the outlaw bully of this world – a world which is so much in awe of them that the Chinese can do as they wish, and everyone shrivels up.
Just a few examples:
1) Tibet: Occupied by China since 1948 with an occupation so brutal the only comparison is with Nazi Germany’s barbaric treatment of the Jews. The world is silent, and ‘The Rape of Tibet’ becomes a standard phrase in our language.
2) ‘Climate change’: China is currently building SEVEN HUNDRED coal-fired power stations at home and in Third World countries. Not a word from the UN, IPCC, Greens, or the little Swedish doom-goblin.
3) Covid-19: The European Union produces a report on the pandemic, including China’s deceit, disinformation, and general culpability in this bio-nuking of our economies. China demands the report remove all such ‘insulting’ passages, and the EU instantly capitulates.
In Germany, it is only the Green Party that speaks out on Merkel’s ‘deafening silence’ over China and Covid-19.

Fuelled by our desire for ever cheaper goods, the world has collectively sleepwalked into a supply-side dependency on the People’s Republic. The gamble had been pitched as a trade-off. China was expected to evolve democratic norms and embrace relations with the international community, while we got richer from globalisation. But we have been played.
