In response to Ollie Wright: No faith nor hope in charities

Children’s charities like the NSPCC and Barnardo’s no longer run homes. Oxfam is a political lobbyist that runs charity shops as a sideline, The money raised by those bleeding heart TV adverts is used to pay the staff wages and produce more adverts. Children in Need has millions in the bank already. WWF is a politically motivated action group. Why should I give them a penny?
My local hospice does a great job and I’m happy to support them. National charities that employ chuggers? Not a chance.

How can a “charity” be a genuine charity if it is effectively an extension of the state?
Baroness Tina Stowell is very much part of the problem. She reminds me of Andrew Bailey at the Financial Conduct Authority, the ‘sector risks extinction unless it can halt the decline in public trust’. Heavens to Betsy, how about providing some leadership and discipline, and punishing the bad apples?

I have not donated since charitable giving was nationalised and taken straight from my pay packet in the form of international aid and various tax perks. How charities still have the gall to advertise for water aid and various other international causes is beyond me. What exactly is international aid spent on if not this?
