I HATE writing begging bowl letters, especially when so many of our readers have remained both so loyal and consistently generous. But the truth is that we need you to help more and more of you to help.
We punch well above our weight on limited resources, on the basis of huge voluntary help and goodwill. But it is an uphill battle. Other websites seem to be much more adept than we are at getting bigwigs to give them money. I fear our relentless pursuit of the truth, our refusal to compromise on matters of principle or to kowtow to the establishment does not make us the ‘safest’ recipient for their philanthropy. We might be their guilty reading secret and they may privately endorse our analyses and our views, but putting their money publicly where their thoughts are is often another matter.
As you know we work very hard, the tiny team at TCW, not just to keep an independent platform for ‘dissidents’ and ‘sceptics’ and critics of woke culture to express their views, but deliberately to be a public thorn in the side of the ever more corrupt establishment, to expose their dishonesty and incompetence. We are and we do. As a result we can be bullied and harassed by those in power to take blogs down or change them. We stand our ground, but at some cost to the sleep we get at night.
We think that in this fast-changing, increasingly intrusive and authoritarian world, what we do at TCW is very important. We receive endorsements daily in emails to that effect – not least that we are keeping readers sane in an increasingly insane world. What we have to say may not be comfortable for some people to read some of the time, but who said we were put on this planet to feel comfortable? The bottom line is that we do what we think is right. And no, we are not dispassionate when it comes to things that worry us or, worse, things that we know are wrong.
So those of you who do value what we do and have the means please think about donating to us (if you are not already) on either a one-off or a regular basis.
We never want to go behind a paywall. We want everyone to be able to read us, rich or poor, right or left, young or old. That’s why we ask those who can to give, and those of you who already do, if you can afford it, please give us more.
