Reform is the only option

SINCE the general election was announced, the Daily Telegraph and other right-leaning print media have been replete with articles from journalists and past and present Tory MPs and ministers urging us to vote Conservative to avoid or reduce a catastrophic defeat (and coincidentally to keep their jobs). These articles will continue right up to polling day, but they are pointless and without merit.

The nation faces the nightmare scenario on July 5 of at least five years of a ruinous Labour government led by a far-left, weathervane, charisma-free prime minister and a cabinet of left-wing extremists including Ed Miliband, Diane Abbott, Rachel Reeves and Angela Rayner. Voting Conservative may achieve a small reduction in Labour’s huge majority, but will deliver only a small Conservative opposition.

Over the past 14 years of Conservative administrations we have not only seen their rapid shift to the left but also their pathetic attempts at any meaningful action and leadership on the issues of importance to the wellbeing of the nation: defence, law and order, the NHS, education, energy supply, infrastructure, immigration, civil service reform, not to mention the proper implementation of Brexit. In fact virtually everything that a government supposedly running the country should be acting on. Can anybody seriously believe that this divided and infighting party can form an effective opposition to a Labour government hell-bent on implementing policies of punitive tax rises, education vandalism, and shutting down oil and gas exploration in order to plaster our mainly food-growing land with Chinese wind turbines and solar panels creating blackouts, industry destruction and energy poverty?

A vote for the Conservatives is a vote for a spineless opposition which will allow the forthcoming Labour government to pursue its harmful policies (the ones we know about) with reckless abandon. So instead of voting Conservative, spoiling ballot papers or complacently staying at home we should all get out on July 4 and vote for the only party with sensible, costed policies and a charismatic leader that can make Britain great again. We must vote Reform.
