Damian Hinds’s grammar school expansion announcement last week provoked predictable outrage from the Left. Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner went so far as to claim that grammar schools damage social mobility. In an article for the Yorkshire Post, published yesterday, Chris McGovern explains why this is palpably wrong, and why we actually need hundreds more grammar schools in deprived areas.
